Weapons to sport- qatar
Client: Qatar Museum Authority (QMA)
Type: Exhibition concept, design and production
The Qatar Museum Authority ran an exhibition series to coincide with the 15th Asian Games in 2006. In concert with our exhibition partners, we provided end-to-end conceptualisation and design, planning and installation services.
The first of the two exhibitions, a fossils exhibition entitled “LOST WORLD RETURNS”; the second compiled an extensive collection of historical weapons, entitled “WEAPONS TO SPORT.”
Exhibits were displayed in a very transparent, and highly flexible display format. This was to give a thoroughly modern atmosphere to the subject matter. It was also a clever solution allowing for last-moment changes and
additions to the displayed artefacts with minimal
difficulty.
The QMA wished to distribute a substantial hard-cover commemorative edition book. We took the brief a step further, researching and structuring the book as a brief
history of weapons and sport, coherently segmented to support the exhibition walkthrough format, and integrating the diverse themes of weapons and sports.
As with Lost World Returns, we designed the book to be readable in two directions, taking advantage of the reading direction of English and Arabic text to produce the solution of an integrated bilingual book in a single volume
