The Qatar Pavilion adopted a simple and imaginative approach by creating interesting levels of exhibits within a small footprint. The design encouraged visitors to meander through Qatar’s energy landscape on escalating slopes with animated walls before allowing them to immerse into specific projects. Multi-sensory galleries equipped with vision-scopes and mirrored video mosaic continued to engaged the visitors as they spiral their way to the end of the pavilion.

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) awarded Qatar Pavilion with the prestigious Gold Award for Exhibition Design in the category for medium size pavilions.

The Qatar Pavilion also won the People’s Choice Award in the Exhibitor Magazine Awards 2017 and an Honorary Award in the Best Exterior Design category. 

This is what the judges commented: “Qatar’s façade was breathtakingly simple! Its simplicity was also purposeful, as the sequins reacted to just the slightest breeze. I loved that it didn't require anything complex and also reflected the theme. I was captivated by its simplicity and I really appreciate the design team's discipline in keeping the façade so simple”.

“I could look at this pavilion for hours. The fact that the façade reacts to just the slightest breeze is wonderful. Considering the expo is on for 90 days, it requires little to no maintenance, yet it will continuously respond and change its look reacting to the nature around it. I can only imagine the different looks of this exterior from morning, to noon, to sundown and night. This is an excellent lesson in simplicity, relevance, and purpose. Simply stunning, on point with the expo theme, and absolutely gorgeous!”
