Qatar Pavilion at EXPO 2020 was an integrated design delivered through a rigorous, accelerated process by collaborative teams working remotely around the world. The pavilion consisted of two main galleries in which visitors were immersed in the visionary and pioneering spirit of Qatar.

Curated exhibits and cutting-edge technologies were utilised to support the story whilst reflecting the heritage, beauty and culture of the nation. Embedded in monolithic three-dimensional carved walls, were museum-like showcases which incorporated multiple technologies such as holographic and 3D projection mapping, to surprise and engage the visitor. These small showcases conveyed the narrative in a personal viewing experience.

In contrast, a larger-than life immersive experience was provided in the second gallery, utilising large-scale LED mirror totems and wrap-around projection mapping. The juxtaposition of moving imagery and ambient soundscapes punctuated with percussive rhythms of poetry, created a contemplative, impressionistic and emotive visitor experience.

The overall impression was welcoming and open, ancient yet modern, inspiring and uplifting. Seamlessly blending heritage and culture with advanced modern technologies whilst utilizing the architectural spaces to communicate the story of Qatar.
